AgenticOS vs OpenAI Frontier

OpenAI Frontier is an enterprise platform for building and managing "AI coworkers": agents that share context from a company's CRM and warehouses, keep memory, are evaluated, and have their own permissions. It runs locally, in a company's cloud or in OpenAI's. AgenticOS answers the same need - many governed agents for a company - as open source you run yourself, with any model.

If you are committed to OpenAI and want it to deliver the platform, Frontier is the vendor's own answer. If you want to own the platform, read its code and choose the models, AgenticOS is built for that.

Where AgenticOS goes further

Open source, so the platform is yours

Frontier is a product you license. AgenticOS is Apache-2.0: you can read every line, change it, extend it in Python and run it for others. An agent's spec exports as YAML into your own repository.

Any model

Frontier is built around OpenAI's models. An AgenticOS agent uses a model profile over 28 providers, with fallbacks, including models on your own hardware.

Governance without a sales call

Budgets, approvals, roles and grants and the audit log are in every AgenticOS deployment, documented, with no enterprise tier.

When Frontier is enough

  • You are standardising on OpenAI and want it to run the platform for you.
  • Its connectors to your CRM and warehouses cover your data.
  • An evaluation suite matters today: AgenticOS has ratings and run history, but no evaluation harness yet.

Does AgenticOS have evaluations like Frontier?

Not yet. AgenticOS records every run with its steps, cost and ratings; an evaluation harness is on the roadmap.
